We get to hear from Becky Hammon, A’ja Wilson and Kelsey Plum regarding the heavy minutes the starting five play every game:
“Well it’s something we always keep our eye on but you know, Kelsey Plum and Jackie Young can go on for days, so after that there’s only so many minutes Riquna Williams can play. I think she played an important role for us tonight, providing good minutes. But we still gotta get her cooking a little bit offensively to where she can find her spots.
But you know, she’s still finding her timing when she’s gonna get shots and whatnot. But obviously she’s a key part of the rotation. And then Iliana Rupert, you know, she’s a young player, she just turned 21. So she’s going to have nights maybe where I just need more juice at that spot. More shooting, she’s definitely a different look than Dearica Hamby. And then I thought Kia Stokes was solid, Kia has been solid. So we continue to build our bench out, they will get more minutes.”
Kelsey Plum talks about the heavy minutes she and Jackie Young play for the Las Vegas Aces:
“No, I mean, Jackie Young and I put in a lot of work in the offseason to prepare our bodies for this. So, you know, strength wise and conditioning wise, Jackie is as good as anyone. I like keeping up with her, she eats clean, she goes to bed, she takes naps, I try to do the same thing. Now, but for us, we’re competitors. And I mean, I know I don’t get tired. And I know she doesn’t either. So we’re prepared whatever our team will do to win.”
