Locked on Women’s Basketball: Ta’Niya Latson is doing things at Florida State no one else has, ever

Howard and Ta'Niya Latson caught up at Mohegan Sun Arena this past weekend — before Latson dropped 24 on UConn in front of a national TV audience

It’s time for another episode of the Locked on Women’s Basketball podcast. This episode features host Howard Megdal who is joined by Florida State’s sensational freshman, Ta’Niya Latson. Ta’Niya Latson talks about what has been the most surprising aspect of her game in her freshman year:

“Definitely my defense, I mean one on one defense has always been a part of my game, but off the ball, I feel like I’ve been able to focus and dial in on that, especially on a college level. Also, my mid-range pull-up, I couldn’t do that in high school. So now that I’ve been in a weight room and I’m getting more shots and everything, I feel like it’s coming a little easier for me.”

Ta’Niya Latson talks about what made her decide on Florida State as the perfect fit for her:

“I remember that exact day and was so sad because coach Sue was leaving. I know coach Brooke had called me immediately and we were talking on the phone and I built a really strong connection with coach Brooke. We talked about anything. So it was like, Ah, dang, everybody’s leaving, coach Sue leaving, but I knew I had loyalty to her and I couldn’t see myself anywhere else. But I had to reevaluate, like do I want to stay here? I had to ask my coaches, my youth coaches and my mom. But honestly, I had so much faith in coach Brooke and what she can bring to the table. So I’m just glad I stuck it out.”
