Taylor Robertson breaks the all-time 3-point record

Taylor Robertson dethroned Kelsey Mitchell as the all-time leader in 3-point makes against Iowa State
After yesterday the history books officially need some updating. Oklahoma’s Taylor Robertson sank her 498th three in the first quarter against No. 18 Iowa State yesterday, passing Kelsey Mitchell for the NCAA career 3-point record. She would end the day with six threes in total and 25 points.

Fittingly enough, the shot came off of a screen, where both on and off the ball, Robertson has used to get space her entire career.
“It was really cool. It felt only right,” said Robertson on the record-breaking shot coming off of a screen.
For Robertson, it was about reading the way Iowa State decided to cover those screens from her teammates that allowed her success yesterday.

“We figured out early how they were guarding the screens. The five was dropping lower and it gave me some space,” said Robertson following the 86-78 loss to Iowa State.
It was not all sweet, as the Sooners did not drop their second game in a row. Not picking up the win did dampen the celebration some for Robertson.
“Wanted to win this one. It was a great environment and I wish we could have got a win,” said Robertson.
This has been a long time coming for the career 43% three-point shooter. A contributor since her freshman year, Robertson becomes the first woman to pass the 500-made 3-pointer mark. Passing that record has lifted a weight off the shoulders of Robertson.
“It feels good to get it knocked out. Kinda a relief. It’s nice to be able to just focus on games”, said Robertson.
Several of Robertson’s family members were in attendance today but one person on Robertson’s mind postgame was her late father.
“I think he would be really proud of all the work I have put in, not only right now but in my lifetime. I think if he was here he probably wouldn’t have said much about it just gave me a big hug,” said Robertson.
While Robertson was the first woman to 500 threes, she does not think she will be the last. She eagerly awaits to see who is going to take the 3-point queen crown.
“I can’t wait to see the next woman who is going to pass me,” said Robertson.
While they will celebrate Robertson’s accomplishment, the Sooners will look to put this game behind them and bounce back against TCU on Tuesday.
