As Em Adler reported — with contributing reporting from Howard Megdal, Jacob Mox, Jackie Powell and Rowan Schaberg — multiple league sources with knowledge of the situation have told The Next that the Seattle Storm plan to re-sign Gabby Williams within the coming days.
“For the past month or so [Storm head coach Noelle Quinn] said a couple times that they were still optimistic about signing [Williams] and her playing this year, but there really wasn’t any movement on her end of it until she popped up in New York last week; we saw some posts, we saw a couple Instagram stories. And then that sort of crescendo to the Storm releasing Arella Guirantes [Thursday] night. And you know, as soon as we saw that — it’s an open spot for a team that has a lot of cap space to fill that last spot with — we asked around and it turns out Gabby is back.”

The hosts and Lincoln Shafer go on to discuss the gaps that Gabby Williams fills for the Storm, how she will provide leadership to younger players and what it means for the Storm’s run for a playoff spot. Williams is an elite baller coming off a productive 2022 season where she averaged 7.5 points, 5.0 rebounds, 3.1 assists and 1.5 steals, and earned Second-Team All-Defense honors
