Maryland lands four-star guard Mila Reynolds from Indiana

Maryland women’s basketball has commenced its recruiting for years ahead, as 6-foot-2 guard Mila Reynolds announced her commitment to the program on Wednesday.
Reynolds, the four-star prospect ranked 41st overall in the Class of 2022 per ESPN, took to Twitter to share the news by initially posting a high school highlight reel video culminating in a Maryland logo appearing on the screen. She later shared a written statement on the social media platform.
“My love for God, family and ball have led me to the decision to commit to the University of Maryland to pursue opportunities beyond what I can imagine. Thank you to Coach Brenda Frese and the UM women’s basketball staff!” Reynolds wrote.
Reynolds averaged 19.8 points and 10.3 rebounds per game as a sophomore at Washington High School in Indiana. She began the year late after undergoing hip surgery last June but ended up leading the Hatchets to a 19-8 record, including 9-3 in the Northern Indiana Conference. In two years, she’s accumulated the 10th-most points in school history and was honored with a First-Team All-Conference selection after the 2019-20 season.
Reynolds was the just the fourth member of the top 60 Class of 2022 prospects to announce her commitment and the first to choose Maryland. Reynolds also weighed offers from West Virginia, Pittsburgh, Missouri, Virginia Tech, Oklahoma, Penn and fellow Big Ten rivals Michigan, Illinois and Purdue, among others.
“I just knew this was the right choice for me,” she told the South Bend Tribune. “I bonded with their coaches right away and that was something that I was really looking for. It’s a top program and I think that I can help them win there.”
Washington High School also produced current WNBA All Star Skylar Diggins-Smith, who stayed in the South Bend region to attend Notre Dame.
Maryland has already added several players this offseason to fill short and long-term needs, such as Taisiya Kaslova and transfers Katie Benzan and Chloe Bibby. The Terps also signed the second-ranked overall recruit in the Class of 2021, Angel Reese, in late 2019.
The additions should help neutralize the losses of Shakira Austin, Taylor Mikesell and Olivia Owens, who have all transferred from the program since the conclusion of the 2019-20 season.
