The WNBA Draft Lottery is coming and Indiana Fever general manager Lin Dunn joined Howard Megdal to preview the event for Locked On Women’s Basketball. While Dunn scouts and plans for their future picks, her Fever are sending 2023 Rookie of the Year Aliyah Boston to Briston, Conn., for the draft lottery.

She and Howard started their conversation by discussing a couple of top prospects in Caitlin Clark, who passed the 3,000-point scoring mark in a rivalry game victory against Iowa State on Monday.
“I think the thing that attracts all of us at the next level about her is that she’s not a one-dimensional three-point shooter, she can get to the rim, she can draw and kick and she normally has 10 or 12 assists every game because she says she makes everybody else out on the floor better,” Dunn said. “She does a great job of knowing when she’s being double-teamed, when she’s being trapped, when she’s drawing two and three defenders where the open man is. So she sees the game exceptionally well. And that seems to improve even more. But I know she’s invested, from everything I’ve heard, invested countless hours in her game, you know, she is a relentless worker. And so it’s paying off for her.”

Back to the draft, Dunn said she and coach Christie Sides are focused on building around their young frontcourt.
“I’m curious about who we’re going to have on either side of Kelsey Mitchell,” Dunn said. “We have Kelsey Mitchell paint penciled in at the two, who’s the starting one and who’s the starting three? And how do we get better on the parameter and then those three, whoever they are, are playing with two of the best young posts in the league and NaLyssa Smith who’s making great strides overseas and Turkey and Aliyah Boston. But we have to get better from the draft. And we have to get better and free agency. And last year, we picked up Erica Wheeler and Kristy Wallace, who both had impacts on improving our team.”
