Las Vegas Aces forward Dearica Hamby was named the 2020 WNBA Sixth Woman of the Year, becoming the third WNBA player to win the award in consecutive seasons.
Hamby, along with 2020 WNBA MVP A’ja Wilson, helped push the Aces to the No. 1 seed in the playoffs and averaged 13.0 points, 7.1 rebounds, 2.7 assists and 1.68 steals while setting career highs in scoring, assists, steals, field goal percentage and three-point field goal percentage.
Hamby didn’t start in a single game for the Aces and received 44 votes from a national panel of 47 sportswriters and broadcasters.
In the front office, Las Vegas Aces General Manager of Basketball Operations Dan Padover was named the 2020 WNBA Basketball Executive of the Year by a panel made up of basketball executives from each WNBA team.
Padover received 37 points while Phoenix Mercury Executive Vice President/General Manager Jim Pitman finished with 32 points.
The Aces finished the regular season tied with the best record (18-4), the 2020 MVP, Sixth Woman of the Year, and the No. 1 seed in the WNBA playoffs despite the loss of JiSu Park and Liz Cambage, and injured guard Kelsey Plum for the season.
In the offseason, the Aces signed Danielle Robinson and WNBA veteran and two-time Olympian Angel McCoughtry, the team’s second-leading scorer in 2020. Ahead of the season, the team re-signed previously retired Carolyn Swords.
