Oklahoma State landed 2020 in-state standout Lexy Keys after she announced her transfer from the University of Texas-Arlington following the coaching change. On Sept. 14, the Cowgirls announced in a press release the addition of Keys to their 2020 roster.
Keys averaged 16.4 points, 4.8 assists, 4.2 steals, and 3.6 rebounds a game in her high school career, proving that she can do a little bit of everything on the offensive and defensive sides.
Just over an hour south in Norman, Oklahoma gained a commitment from 2021 California native, Emma Svoboda. According to an article by Shad Powers from Desert Storm, Svoboda committed on September 1, exactly one year after she made contact with Sooners.
Powers reported: “Svoboda will be a Sooner and one of the first desert girls’ basketball players ever to sign a scholarship with a “Power 5 conference” school.”
The 6’3 forward averaged a double-double her junior year, 19.9 points, 12.7 rebounds, and 4 blocks per game leading her to be named the Desert Empire League MVP. Her versatility on the floor will allow her to play either the three or four position for Oklahoma and help alleviate pressure from the main post players on the floor.
Meanwhile, in Manhattan, Kansas State gained a 2022 commitment from Sooners territory, Mikayla Parks from Norman. Parks announced her commitment on Twitter on Sept. 14.
The combo guard will help the Wildcats with not only primary ball-handling but also the ability to shoot, which allows for more positional flexibility.
