First, Aaliyah shares with Howard how she returned to the sport she loves following a season-ending ACL injury early in her sophomore season.
“It was painful going through the surgery and then having to basically start all the way over,” Moore shared on the podcast. “I had no muscle in my quads — I had to build that back up, learning how to walk again, how to run again, it was definitely a challenge. But looking back now I’m almost a year, not even a year, I think, a year and some months since I tore it and had surgery. I have grown on and off the court so much. Like it almost was a blessing in disguise in a way. And I thank God every day that I was able to come back and still play the game that I love.”
Later, Moore shared her experiences working for a month with the WNBA’s Dallas Wings as an extension of her communications studies at Texas.
“The month I had with the Wings was the best experience of my life,” Moore said. ” … I was right there courtside. I was able to shadow Sheryl Swoopes, the broadcasting team, Nancy Lieberman, Rob Thurman, Rob the producer. I got to be in the producers’ truck, which I honestly shockingly enough I did not think I would like the producers’ truck but I loved it. Because I want to go into broadcasting. I want to go into sideline reporting.”
