They talked about the creation of Splash Squad and what makes it different from other basketball shows and media channels:

“Okay, so longest story short, I went to a really boring college, at first, out in Tennessee. It was out in the woods, it sucked, and I was by myself, I was super bored and there was nothing to do, so I just started a channel,” Caitlyn said. ” … I was just talking about stuff. I don’t know why I thought that was necessary, but I did. I just started with my iPad and I’d record on it and whatever. It was super cringy, but [that] started it, and it kind of turned into something a little bigger. And then just a while back, I started getting into women’s basketball. I’m a new fan, I’m a pretty new fan. And so I think people are able to kind of see the journey with me, like they’re watching with me. A lot of people just jumped on this past year. I was a couple years before bandwagoner … So we’re growing and evolving through this and learning together.”

“Honestly, it was really March Madness, Women’s March Madness. Aari McDonald was like, that was the first year I really was super locked in. And that was super entertaining to me, all the little story lines, I didn’t realize how entertaining it was. And so I wanted to make a separate channel for it, just because I wanted to kind of help show how entertaining it’s, like, it’s good basketball, yes, of course. But people don’t even know that, because they don’t give it a chance, and they don’t realize the storylines is what makes it, in my opinion, what makes it so entertaining,” Caitlyn continued.

“I can talk about [basketball], and I could … sit there and try to be analytical and stuff, but I feel like other people do that really well. I’m not a number cruncher like that. I’m not going to sit there and do [that] because I will fall asleep. I want to laugh at all times and all points in the day. So when I’m watching some of the highlights, like half the time, I really start feeling bad, because I’m like, ‘oh my gosh, for the last two minutes, I’ve talked about nothing basketball related, I’m literally [talking about] hairstyles. And I’d be … like ‘should I be more analytical?’ But I keep doing it every video, … so I decided, eff it, … I’m not going to try and bring it back to [basketball]. When it comes back around to basketball, it’ll come back around. But at the end of the day, I just like to laugh.”
