Heidrick opens the show by acknowledging Auriemma’s new record — 1,217 career wins — and the celebration that followed. “His coaching career is defined by unparalleled success,” she says, “that no one has been able to, and probably will [not be able to] match for some time … He was applauded and showered with so much.”
Add Locked On Women’s Basketball to your daily routine

Join us Monday through Saturday each week as we discuss all things WNBA, collegiate basketball, basketball history and much more. Listen wherever you find podcasts or watch on YouTube.
Later on, Heidrick addresses other big stories in women’s basketball making waves right now, such as coaching changes, like the hiring of Karl Smesko to lead the Atlanta Dream. “This was definitely one that I think surprised a lot of people,” Heidrick says. She also touches on the Los Angeles Sparks’ hiring of Lynne Roberts. Roberts, per Heidrick, is a coach who has “done his homework, looked at the analytics, looked at the numbers.”
Heidrick closes the show by previewing some of the trips that college basketball teams will take over the Thanksgiving break as well as some of the biggest matchups to watch for. From Las Vegas to the Bahamas all the way to Hawaii, Heidrick makes sure listeners know what to watch for.
