Breanna Stewart, WNBA 2018 regular season MVP and 2018 and 2020 WNBA Finals MVP, is the highest ranked player in this year’s version of the video game with a 95 overall score. A’ja Wilson and Jonquel Jones tie for second with a 94 overall score and Candace Parker (93) and Brittney Griner (92) round out the top 5.
A’ja Wilson is the W’s reigning MVP, securing the award while leading the Las Vegas Aces to an 18-4 overall record during the 2020 season played from the bubble in Bradenton, Florida. Candace Parker won the MVP honors during her rookie season in 2008 and again in the 2013 season. Parker also won the Finals MVP award in 2016.
Jonquel Jones is in the conversation for this year’s MVP award, currently averaging a double-double while sitting in second place in league scoring with 20.6 points per game and leading the league in rebounding with 11.2 boards per game. Griner is coming off of a red-hot 30-point gold medal game with Team USA during the Tokyo Olympics and is fourth in the league in points with 20.5 per game and second in rebounds with 9.8 per game.
This year, for the first time ever, the NBA 2K release will feature a WNBA player on the cover of a game release. Candace Parker will be on one of three covers that the video game franchise will feature.
NBA 2K22 will be released on Sept. 10, 2021.
