Terry on whether or not the Minnesota Lynx “won” the draft this year:

I think they might have [won]. I hesitate to say they absolutely won. I think there’s a couple other teams that did pretty well. I think Indiana by default feels pretty good about what they did. I think Seattle getting Jordan Horston with the ninth pick is definitely a winning case… But I don’t know what the Lynx could have done to make Lynx fans feel better about the draft, save for trading for like five first round picks for next year’s draft or the year after. Which, obviously, wasn’t something that’s in the cards. So I think they did very well, and I think we could there’s a path to going through the season and looking back on this draft to say that they won pretty handily.

Terry on what he took away from pre and post-draft media availability with Lynx head coach Cheryl Reeve:

I think we learned a lot. And [going] back to … when Cheryl, she had a had a zoom and met with some local media. It wasn’t the same fanfare. But it seemed that for the first time, Cheryl’s been able to talk publicly about the the long view. And you know, the goal is always to win championships … but I think she’s been able to approach this draft and this upcoming season, a little bit more pragmatically than she’s probably allowed herself to in the past. And I think that’s exciting for the fan base. For the first time since she got [to Minnesota], it’s not a championship or bust type of thing. I think the fan base is kind of energized and think, “Oh, this project might take a while. But they’re interesting, and they’re exciting.”
