They started their conversation with interleague matchups and why they are so intriguing.

“I think that A-10 and the Ivy League are kind of natural partners in the sense or pairs in the sense that they’re kind of similar in a lot of ways, they they’re both really good mid-major conferences that have some national relevance and have had national success over the years,” Hatfield said.

“Long-term, there’s some geographic overlap, which helps for athletic departments that don’t have as large a budgets, in most cases, as your power conference teams, and you know, so I think there’s a lot of really cool mid-major0 matchups and rivalries throughout this conference, and the coaches have shown that they’ve been willing to play those and foster those matchups year in and year out.”

Then, they narrowed in on specific teams like Harvard and what Hatfield has seen from the Ivy League-leading Crimson so far. Harvard is 9-1 with a 72-68 overtime victory against No. 25 Indiana.

“They’re a really good team. They’re going to challenge for the conference title. They got a first-place vote in the preseason poll. And I think that they are you know, kind of living up to those expectations and and looking really good heading into conference play. Harmoni Turner, their senior guard has been arguably the best player in the Ivy League, one of the best mid-major players in the country so far this season. And she is definitely going to be a weapon going into Ivy play.”
