Missy Heidrick is back for another episode of Locked On Women’s Basketball and she is continuing her conference previews with the Big 12. The field is loaded this season with six undefeated teams and four squads ranked in the latest AP Top 25 poll. Texas (11-0) leads the way at No. 5, Baylor (9-0) is 10th, Kansas State (10-1) is 12th and TCU (11-0) is 25th. The other three undefeated teams are Texas Tech, West Virginia and UCF.

Missy started the episode talking about Texas and some of their standout players including preseason Big 12 player of the year Rori Harmon and rookie of the year Madison Booker.

“If you watch Rori Harmon, she has a motor and it is a motor unlike any other and I think that is why she has flourished and playing for Vic Schaefer simply because she can go she can go on both ends of the floor,” Missy said. “One thing you will see about Harmon this year she seems much more physically ready to be able to handle contact and the physicality and be a score that they need her to be. The other aspect has been the outstanding play of Madison Booker who is the preseason All-Big 12 Freshman of the Year coming into this year. She is a talent as well on both ends of the floor and can fill up a stat sheet.”

She went on to detail what she’s seen from each of the teams, starting with the ranked squads. One of the teams that has impressed her most so far with a few high-profile transfers and is TCU. The Horned Frogs also have a new coach in Mark Campbell, who made the move from Sacramento State.

“He knew he had to completely reset the culture reset what they were going to do in Fort Worth. Where did he go? Well, as most coaches do this day and age, he dove headfirst right into the portal,” Missy said. “And that has given them a huge boost by two names that you cannot deny probably two of the best players we’re seeing so far in this league. In Madison Conner and Sedona Prince. They have led the way. I also want to give props to Jaden Owens. She’s a fifth-year senior. She transferred after graduating a graduate transfer to TCU from Baylor. She played 40 minutes the other night in there when and had double-digit assists. That is leadership that is experienced in this league that I think will help this TCU team.”
