They started by discussing the WNBA’s first Canadian game, which took place right before the regular season began.
“It was incredible,” Carleton said. “I mean, the arena selling out in 15 minutes. Luckily all my family and friends got tickets in time. But yeah, I think it just speaks to the excitement around basketball in Canada and specifically the Toronto area. That area has been growing basketball fans for a long time obviously credit to the raptors and their success and you know winning a championship a few years ago. But there’s like a culture around basketball in Toronto right now that a lot of people are wanting to be a part of and that was evident at the game the web a game in Toronto and it was a lot a lot of fun to be a part of.”

So what does she think about Toronto as a potential WNBA expansion market? They addressed that too.
“Toronto would be an amazing market,” Carleton said. “The interest is there, the fans are there, the investment is there, obviously, you know, there are certain steps that need to be taken to get to that point. But I think people worry about, you know, traveling, obviously, it’s going to another country. But I think that game was kind of a trial run. And it was a pretty smooth process.”
