Unrivaled 1-on-1 tournament details announced

Participating players, tournament rules and more details revealed

Unrivaled’s inaugural season is well underway and the league has just announced details on their 1-on-1 tournament, which will take place on Feb. 10, 11, and 14 on TNT. Currently, the league’s 36 athletes are playing 3-on-3 games with their respective teams on Fridays, Saturdays and Mondays. Ahead, everything to know about how the Unrivaled 1-on-1 tournament will work, including the rules, participating players, ticketing and prize pool.

Tournament rules

The rules for the 1-on-1 tournament are as follows:

  • Single elimination games, except for the finals. First to 11 points wins, or whoever has the most points after 10 minutes of play, whichever comes first.
  • The clock will be continuous for the duration of the game, with a 7-second shot clock for each possession.
  • When a player makes a shot, they get the next possession.
  • The tournament will follow traditional basketball scoring rules and shot point values.

Participating players

The 30 players competing in the 1-on-1 tournament have been placed in four pods, which evenly distribute talent, positions and exciting match-ups. Fans will be able to vote for the seed each player will receive, forming match-ups in a 1v8, 2v7, 3v6 and 4v5 format. Pods A and D have a first-round bye for their top two seeds.

The prize pool

The athletes will compete for a $350K total prize pool. The winner will receive the lion’s share of the prize, $200k, while the remaining $150k will be split between their teammates (receiving $10k each), the runner-up (receiving $50k), and each of the semifinalists not advancing to the Final (receiving $25k each).

What to know about tickets

Ticket presale for 1-on-1 games goes live for newsletter subscribers on Wednesday, Jan. 29 at 1 p.m. ET. The sale opens for the rest of the fans on Jan. 30 at 1 p.m. ET on Unrivaled’s website. Here is a breakdown of other key dates:

  • Jan 30: Voting period begins for player seeds
  • Feb 2: Voting period for player seeds ends
  • Early February (date TBD): Brackets reveal
  • Feb. 10: 1st round play begins
  • Feb. 11: The round and quarterfinal games will take place
  • Feb. 14: The single elimination semi-finals begins as well as the finals, which will be best of 3 games

Identical to the current 3-on-3 games, the 1-on-1 tournament will be aired on TNT, truTV, Max, TSN+ in Canada, and YouTube Live internationally.
