Pili, a 6’2 senior forward, scored 37 points in 29 minutes against South Carolina on Sunday. Our Howard Megdal wrote at The IX that Pili is “1-of-1,” with no easy comparisons available. Here’s Em’s take on what sets Pili apart:
“I don’t think that I have seen a player in college who was as incredible as a finisher as Alissa Pili. … I think [former UConn guard Tiffany] Hayes is probably, bar none, the greatest finisher in college history, inch for inch, but it is damn close with Alissa Pili. We don’t have any comparison for what she does at the rim, just the way she uses her hands, the approaches she takes, the angles she’s at. I don’t understand what she’s doing half the time. And it just goes in.”
