The hosts first discuss whether Clark has met expectations seven games into her rookie season. East highlights that her passing has exceeded expectations, but her turnovers and shooting percentages need improvement. “I would say met [expectations], but I would probably be closer to slightly under than slightly over so far,” East said.
The hosts also discussed Clark’s willingness and persistence to admit what needs work and improvement. After each game, Clark is the first one to break down her performance. “Even though Caitlin had these crazy good shots in the end, she’s going to look back at that game and go, ‘Well dang, I missed ten times and had these turnovers.’… It’s really hard when you’re a rookie to think that way, because you’re a rookie in the pros for the first time. You’re learning a lot of new stuff on the fly.”
Next, the hosts discussed overall expectations for the Fever this season. East highlighted the importance of defense. He noted that the Fever are able to score at a high level but have struggled to guard.
Lastly, they played a game of “Stock Up/Stock Down.” East noted that Temi Fagbenle’s stock has risen tremendously since the start of the season. “Not only is she good – she’s getting double-doubles and scoring – she’s so far a brilliant fit with Caitlin,” East said. “That matters a lot for the Fever as they project long term.”
