Lynx players return to WNBA competition following Olympics
With less than one month left in the 2024 WNBA regular season, The Next’s Minnesota Lynx beat writer Terry Horstman joined Locked On Women’s Basketball host Natalie Heavren to discuss the Lynx’s first week following the Olympic break. Terry and Natalie recap Minnesota’s matchups against the Las Vegas Aces and a trade with the Washington Mystics for forward Myisha Hines-Allen. The pair also discuss Minnesota’s playoff push, what to expect the rest of the season, Maya Moore’s upcoming jersey retirement and more.

Terry details how the Lynx acquired Hines-Allen from the Washington Mystics, sending Olivia Époupa, Sika Koné and a 2026 second-round pick in return. He remarked that Hines-Allen had a strong debut with the Lynx, contributing significantly in a crucial game against the Las Vegas Aces. “She made herself useful and fit into the system pretty much right away,” Terry said.
Later, Terry reviewed the performances of the Lynx players at the Paris Olympics. Lynx head coach Cheryl Reeve, who coached Team USA, and forward Napheesa Collier, who started for the team, both played key roles in securing the gold medal. Terry also praised Alanna Smith for her outstanding performance with Australia, where she was named to the All-Star Five. Bridget Carleton, representing Canada, showed strong play despite Canada not medaling. Now, all players return to Minnesota hoping to make a final push before the WNBA playoffs.
