First, Gordon describes the unique, interrelated paths that led Curry and Ionescu to this moment.

“Steph Curry’s story at this point, we all know that — greatest three point shooter in NBA history, a litany of records [and] four championships to go with it. Anyway you want to dice it up one of the greatest players in NBA history — the greatest shooter and unparalleled skill that he has brought to the NBA basketball court. Just so happens that Sabrina Ionescu grew up in the [Bay Area] watching Steph Curry during his rise to prominence during the Golden State Warriors.”

Later, the two elaborate on the pressure Sabrina faces representing women’s sports in this competition.

“There’s a lot of pressure — doesn’t matter what your gender is, or how you identify — like pressure can affect people right? We’ve seen Sabrina Ionescu rise above it … This is a different kind of setting. I think she will she will come out and shine. That’s who she’s been essentially her whole basketball career is somebody that relishes in the spotlight. I think she’s gonna come out and have a good showing,” Gordon said.
