But before diving into her current team’s success, Burke took a trip down memory lane to her UCLA matchups against Oregon and her now-teammate Sabrina Ionescu.
“It was a lot of fun. I think that time that we beat Oregon, when I was at UCLA, I was a senior, I think they were ranked No. 2 in the nation, and then we weren’t ranked. So getting that win over them was big,” Burke said. “It was a lot of fun to play there. And then playing at their home court was obviously tough. But yeah, we got the dub. We were down like 20 something points. I’ll never forget that. Like even talking about it now, it just makes me feel nostalgic and all that. But it was fun.”
Burke also discussed how she approaches carving out her role on each team she plays for.
“It’s tough going from team to team and just finding your role,” she said. “But I always tell myself, ‘KB, no matter what, no matter where your place, know that you are meant to be there for a reason, and that you can bring something special, no matter what it is, whether it’s being an offensive threat or getting stops on defense.’ Just just being a spark, no matter what.”
