Pepper and Erica dive right in with the fun questions. Pepper asked, what’s your earliest basketball memory? Here is what Erica had to say: “I remember playing after YMCA. With my best friend Alex. We were six years old and her dad was coaching us. And we were the only girls on the team. And we were balling though. We loved it.”
Another important question that viewers and fans will appreciate is, the importance of fathers being there for their daughters and Erica’s dad is no different. McCall mentioned how her dad is her, “favorite coach” and here is what she said:
“My dad is my absolute favorite coach in the world. He has been with me every step of the way. Even if he wasn’t directly my head coach. He was there at all my practices. He was training me when I didn’t have practices and he’s still coaching me today. I can call him at any time and he’ll help me, he watches all my games even overseas at five in the morning. So he’s my biggest supporter and my favorite coach.”
Playing multi-sports can be challenging and Erica explains why she wasn’t a fan of running track:
“I played volleyball, and I ran track. I hated track, but I was decent at it. My mom and my grandpa ran track in college. But you know, track just gave me so much anxiety about it. It’s a sport where it’s just you and you have to compete against the clock and it was just too much pressure for me. And I love the team sport of basketball. And I absolutely enjoyed that. So I stuck with it.”
