Takeaways from the Dallas Wings’ 2022 Schedule

The Wings will be tested early on the road

The Dallas Wings took flight in 2021 by making the playoffs for the second time in the organization’s history with one of the youngest rosters in the WNBA. Dallas had an early exit from the playoffs in a single-elimination game against the eventual champions, the Chicago Sky.

For the 2022 season each team will play an all-time high of 36 games; 18 home games and 18 away games. Dallas will open the season against the Atlanta Dream. It will be the first time the team has opened the regular season at home. Then the Wings will play eight of their next ten games on the road, including a five-game road trip. There were two teams that Dallas could not get a win against in 2021: the Connecticut Sun and the Las Vegas Aces. They will get tested early during that road trip, with back-to-back games against the Sun and then ending the trip against the Aces. The long road trip is followed by a five-game homestand.

The majority of these games are played every other day. Dallas will get their longest break in between games after playing the Sun for the final time in the regular season on July 5. The All-Star game will take place on July 10, with festivities beginning July 9. The Wings will resume play on July 12 in Seattle. Dallas will close out the 2022 regular season on the road on Aug. 14 against the Los Angeles Sparks.

The 2022 season will be the team’s second year under head coach Vickie Johnson. Now that there is some familiarity, the Wings have an opportunity to take this organization to another level.

They should do it with Charli Collier, according to the team. Dallas announced Wednesday that while Collier had a knee scope, she is “expected to be ready for the start of the 2022 WNBA season.”
